Again a difficult time for her. Daily she used to travel for four hours leaving her child behind.
At office she was slowly settling down. Actually at one corner of heart, she was contented to find her own identity. She was performing good. The phone calls back home reduced from half an hour a day to once a day to check how her daughter is doing. She was totally immersed in work, when at office. In two hours of travel either side, she used to plan work at home – her daughter quality time and household work. Yes, few of the household work was outsourced for ease. This was her daily routine.
She started getting importance at work place. She has been assigned for important projects. She was satisfied. The things were under control at home front at office. The equilibrium was set.
However, with approaching winters, the equilibrium got disturbed. Her one year old daughter fell sick close to office deadlines. Difficult to manage at both front. Many women face this real life situation. Her manager was also a mother and used to manage such situations very smartly. Her manager used to day, that in fever, you could not do anything. You only have to give medicines. That is so true. However, our girl, now a grown up lady was not so strong. She took two days leaves to look after her daughter. Unfortunately, she fell ill after that. It was viral fever, which usually spreads. The leaves extended. At office front, it was not justifiable. True professionally. Such struggles continued for almost a year until her daughter turned 2.5 years. Obviously, her manager actually did not like it. Though supportive she was, there were continuous arguments between both. She had to work under severe pressure. It started to impact her work. Many important projects slipped from her hand. She was not given next levels promotion. For two cycles she remained at the same profile. Remember, she joined this company one level down. So basically she was at the entry level profile even after 5 years of work experience. Yes, the office work demand equal commitment. The girl was committed to her work, but she was not able to handle situation back at home. She was an emotional girl.
In such of the situations, she got a very very bad feedback from one of her clients. There was so much of backfires. There was lot of discussions at the management level. She was asked to resign.
