Hostel life is very well depicted in the picture above. There is no privacy, you will never sleep on time. There is so much to talk. Washing clothes was a major issue and you will never get good food in hostels. So you very well understood the importance of home made food. In back 2002- 2003 the mobiles just got introduced and not everyone had mobiles. The common room in hostels have the phones and parents use to fix the time and call. The thrill of running from the hostel room to attend the call was very different. Sometimes we used to wait for the calls.
On a usual visit to her house, her father suggested to get bank account opened for her. She thought, her father will open the bank account for her. Few days she got a call from her father at common room inquiring, if she has opened an account. She replied, she thought father would open it for her. Father said, she has to do herself. EYE OPENER.
Few days later her grandparents visited her in hostel. She was super excited to show her hostel lifestyle. Obviously, the rooms were cleaned and piles of clothes were dumped in cupboard or rightly called as almirah in India. The grandparents did not liked the food of hostel, rest they were satisfied their granddaughter is fine in hostel. While going back, the grandfather handed over Rs. 500 as a token of love to her.
Can you guess, where she utilized those Rs. 500. In buying some new dress or in dining out? NO
Remember, what her father told. To get a bank account opened. She got her first ban account opened from those Rs.500. Those Rs. 500 gave the sense of love and independence to our girl. The girl was gaining sense of maturity. She was happy to invest those Rs. 500 in something fruitful.
