A city within a city that has room for all things money can buy. Malls have been one of the most sought after places to visit when it comes to shopping or hanging out. The shopping experience itself has changed the way we looked at it 20 years back.
From Street shopping to Malls
Years ago it was considered normal to shop in public places, the concept that is now famously called as street shopping was the means of shopping for the majority. Malls are lined up with shops to give the feel of moving in a street, to give the buyers a modern, enclosed within four walls and in the comforting temperature shopping experience.
All Shopping and Hanging Out Under One Roof
A mall is a place where you can have a supermarket, designer boutiques, branded outlets, movie theatres, kid’s zone, food courts, spas, etc. all under one roof. From kids to senior citizens all can shop for their necessities at one place, bringing families closer together.
With cities offering limited places for friends to meet and hang out, malls filled in that gap by establishing food courts and cafes that offer free Wi-Fi. This opened up possibilities for many friends to come together and start small ventures over cups of coffees.
Increased Engagement for Shoppers
While the primary focus of the malls is still of drive sales through the multiple stores that they host, they’re now stepping up their game. They no longer just push the sales, but are focusing on user engagement and retaining the footfalls that happen in the mall. They have gone from seller to engager, focusing on building a community. Hence, one will notice that malls have now started organizing events for various age groups during different festivals throughout the year.
Staying Strong in the E-commerce Era
With many turning to e-commerce for their shopping, malls have turned to inviting cricketers, movie and TV stars to promote products, movies, and various shows. Making mall, not just a mundane shopping place build with brick and mortar but a happening spot where fun and entertainment comes alive. They are becoming an important part of people’s life, by offering them various activities that touch their hearts.
Malls now are a combination of material and emotional bond that thrives on community building to offer amazing shopping experience.
