An urbanized form of a market place, Malls are no more a shopping arcade for people. The huge turnover of the crowd that mall attracts is a result of various activities that malls are indulging in these days, making it a huge marketing platform. Since people of all age group visit malls, there are higher chances of gaining attention from all kinds of people that might not be possible through TV or Newspaper.
With open spaces becoming sparse and kids not having much time to enjoy extracurricular activities, malls are creating multiple kids oriented events and camps. Kids never visit mall alone, which means that parents also have to tag along and indulge in some shopping or munching while the kid is busy in the activity. On festivals and during holiday seasons there is a rise in the number of these events. This can including painting workshops or film making camps or various art and craft events.
Malls invite celebrities to launch products or promote some movies. The movie stars visit the malls to talk about their upcoming movie or in some cases, even daily soap stars are a big crowd puller. Quick games are played to engage the crowd or people get to ask questions or they get to click selfies with the stars and taking home some movie related merchandize.
Product launch and Cultural events
Similarly, there are product launch events that allow the general public to get an idea about the product by testing it. In some cases, they are also given samples and gift vouchers. Then there are cultural events that help to promote a culture of various countries by showcasing dance work and art work along with food.
SALE! SALE! SALE! Gone are the days when one would wait for a special discount on each of the various lifestyle stores. Malls have started aligning various sales offered across the stores hosted in the mall at the same time. This enables them to attract more and more people to visit and shop, as one not only gets a variety to look at but also avail huge discounts under one roof.
Apart from all these events, there are flash mobs, food festivals, flea markets and sampling of products. These really help promote the mall in nonconventional ways that attract eyeballs over the internet, too.
